The Philadelphia Phillies acquired infielder Buddy Kennedy from the Detroit Tigers on Friday in exchange for cash considerations.
The Phillies promptly optioned Kennedy to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Kennedy, 25, was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Monday after going 2-for-10 with one homer and four RBIs in six games with the team.
He also batted .234 with three homers and 14 RBIs in 39 games with Triple-A Toledo. The versatile Kennedy has made appearances at second base (22), third base (18), first base (one) and shortstop (one) for the Mud Hens.
Kennedy has batted .205 with two homers and 17 RBIs in 46 career games with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2022-23) and Tigers.
