White Sox’s Robert in lineup after missing 4 weeks

The Chicago White Sox reinstated outfielder Luis Robert Jr. from the injured list in advance of Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs.

Robert, 26, has been out since April 5 with a hip flexor strain. He was scheduled to bat third as the White Sox look to end an 11-game losing streak by beating their crosstown rivals.

The White Sox’s offensive trio of Robert, Yoan Moncada and Eloy Jimenez were needed to provide run production, but that group has played together just three times this season. Moncada and Jimemez remain on the IL.

In just seven games this season, Robert did have two home runs with four RBIs but had also struck out 11 times. In five major league seasons, all with the White Sox, Robert is a .278 hitter with 76 home runs and 214 RBIs.

In other roster moves, the White Sox placed outfielders Tommy Pham (left ankle sprain) and Dominic Fletcher (left shoulder strain) on the 10-day IL, retroactive to Monday. The team recalled outfielder Zach DeLoach from Triple-A Charlotte, selected outfielder Duke Ellis from Double-A Birmingham and designated infielder Zach Remillard for assignment.

Pham, 36, was hurt sliding into home plate on Sunday and Fletcher, 26, came away with his injury making a catch to save a home run in the same game.

Pham signed with the White Sox on April 16 and has batted .280 with three home runs, seven doubles and 12 RBIs in 33 games thus far. Fletcher is also in his first season with Chicago and was batting .173 with six RBIs over 28 games.

Remillard, 30, made his major league debut last year and has appeared in 69 games for the White Sox. A career .250 hitter, he was batting .242 (8-for-33) with one RBI in 15 games this season.

The White Sox enter play Tuesday amid a franchise-worst 15-45 start and have the worst record in baseball more than two months into the season.
