Raducanu to begin Wimbledon prep at Nottingham

Emma Raducanu will begin her preparations ahead of Wimbledon at the Rothesay Open in Nottingham in June, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) announced on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old former U.S. Open winner withdrew from French Open qualifying on Sunday to focus on training for the grass and hard-court seasons.

Raducanu, who has suffered with frequent injuries since her solitary Grand Slam triumph in 2021, missed the entirety of the 2023 grass-court season after undergoing surgery on her wrists and ankle.

The Nottingham event begins June 8 and is the first WTA Tour competition of the British grass-court swing, which is headlined by Wimbledon on July 1-14.

Fellow Briton Katie Boulter, who won her first WTA Tour event at Nottingham in 2023, is also among the entrants.

Raducanu has enjoyed a promising return to the court following her lengthy injury lay-off, but lost in straight sets to Maria Lourdes Carle at the Madrid Masters in her last match April 24.
