Tigers reinstate Urshela after hamstring injury

The Detroit Tigers reinstated third baseman Gio Urshela from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday.

Urshela, who has been sidelined since April 19 with a right hamstring strain, was back in the lineup and batting sixth for Tuesday’s game against the visiting Miami Marlins.

Urshela, 32, batted .298 with two doubles and six RBIs in 18 games before the injury. He is a career .278 hitter with 64 homers and 286 RBIs in 682 games over nine seasons with six teams.

Detroit optioned outfielder Akil Baddoo to Triple-A Toledo to make room for Urshela on the 26-man roster.
