New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson sustained a stress injury to his left ankle and will be reevaluated in 6 to 8 weeks, the team announced on Tuesday night.
That timeframe rules him out for the remainder of the postseason.
Robinson had already been ruled out of Wednesday’s Game 2 against the Indiana Pacers due to what the Knicks called left ankle injury management earlier Tuesday.
Robinson had surgery on the ankle in December and missed 50 games before in returning in late March. He also missed a game in the Knicks’ first-round series with the Philadelphia 76ers to manage soreness in his left ankle.
He played 12 minutes off the bench in the Knicks’ 121-117 Game 1 victory on Monday, scoring two points and grabbing two rebounds.
New York, already thin on the bench with forwards Julius Randle and Bojan Bogdanovic out for the season following surgeries, will likely give additional minutes to backup Precious Achiuwa.
