Astros put struggling McCormick on injured list

MLB

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick, who has not played since Saturday, has been placed on the 10-day injured list because of right hamstring discomfort, the team announced Wednesday.

In a corresponding move, the Astros recalled shortstop Jacob Amaya from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Houston started top prospect Joey Loperfido, who was called up earlier this week, in Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians.

McCormick, 29, is batting .236 with three doubles and 8 RBIs in 21 games.

Amaya, 25, has not played in the majors this season. He made his debut in 2023, playing four games for the Miami Marlins. The Astros obtained him in a trade on April 6.
