Rangers call up P Leiter, former No. 2 overall pick

The Texas Rangers are calling up right-hander Jack Leiter, the No. 2 pick in the 2021 draft.

In 14⅓ innings at Triple-A this season, he has struck out 25 and walked three while allowing four home runs.

Leiter will start the final game of the series against Detroit on Thursday.

Leiter, 23, is son of former major league pitcher Al Leiter, who won three World Series and threw a no-hitter during his career.
