Rangers’ Bradford to IL after sizzling 3-0 start

MLB

Texas Rangers left-hander Cody Bradford, who is off to a 3-0 start this season, was placed on the 15-day injured list on Sunday with a low back strain.

Right-hander Michael Lorenzen will be activated from the 15-day IL and make his Rangers debut against the Detroit Tigers on Monday.

Bradford is 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA, two walks and 17 strikeouts in 19⅓ innings over three starts. He also leads MLB pitchers with a 0.62 WHIP and 0.93 walks per nine innings.

In a corresponding move, Texas recalled right-hander Cole Winn, 24, from Triple-A Round Rock. Winn, who has yet to play in the majors, was the No. 15 overall pick in the 2018 draft. He has allowed five runs (four earned) with one walk and nine strikeouts in 6⅓ innings over four relief appearances for Round Rock.
