MLB

The Texas Rangers are calling up Justin Foscue to replace the injured Josh Jung, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan on Tuesday.

Foscue, 25, was a first-round pick (14th overall) in 2020 and can play first, second and third base.

Jung, 26, suffered a fractured right wrist when he was struck by a pitch in Monday’s win at Tampa Bay.

Foscue hit .250 with 1 homer, 4 doubles and 6 RBIs in 21 games this spring before being assigned to Triple-A Round Rock, where he is 3-for-13 with two RBIs in three games.

Foscue is a career .275 hitter in the minors with 50 home runs and 218 RBIs in 288 games. He is ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect in the Texas system by MLB Pipeline.

The defending World Series champion Rangers (3-1) continue their series against the host Rays on Tuesday.
