Southern Illinois is expected to hire Wright State‘s Scott Nagy as its next men’s basketball coach, sources told ESPN.

Nagy has coached in five NCAA tournaments and won at least a share of five regular-season titles during his time at South Dakota State and Wright State.

He helped lead South Dakota State in its transition from Division II to Division I, and then guided the Jackrabbits to three Summit League regular-season championships and three NCAA tournament appearances in his final five seasons with the program.

Nagy took over at Wright State in 2016 and immediately led the Raiders to four straight 20-win seasons. They won the Horizon League regular-season title in three of his first five seasons at the helm, reaching the NCAA tournament on two occasions in 2017 and 2022.

Wright State is coming off a third-place finish in the Horizon League this season.

Nagy’s career record at the Division I level is 334-190.

At Southern Illinois, Nagy will replace Bryan Mullins, who was let go earlier this month after five seasons. The Salukis made six straight NCAA tournament appearances from 2002 to ’07 but have yet to reach the tournament since their Sweet 16 run in 2007.
