Jack Della Maddalena earned one of the most impressive wins of the night at UFC 299 last weekend in Miami — and he did it with a broken forearm.

Della Maddalena (17-2) finished former UFC welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns (22-6) with strikes in the third round of a comeback victory. His manager, Tim Simpson, has since revealed Della Maddalena broke his forearm prior to the finish.

“Jack Della Maddalena arm snapped clean early in the fight,” Simpson wrote on Instagram. “Rallied for a finish in the [third]. Soldier! PS Gilbert kicks hard!”

Simpson included an X-ray showing Della Maddalena’s forearm had a clean break. Simpson did not immediately respond to ESPN regarding a potential timeline of recovery for the 27-year-old.

Della Maddalena, of Perth, Australia, jumped to the UFC’s No. 5-rank at 170 pounds with the win. He is 7-0 inside the Octagon, with four first-round finishes.
