Williams, Rose joins growing Grizzlies injury list

NBA

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies‘ injury list keeps growing longer with wing Ziaire Williams out for at least the rest of March and guard Derrick Rose sidelined a minimum of three weeks.

The Grizzlies announced Tuesday that Williams has a Grade 2 strain of a hip flexor and his lower back. Williams was hurt in an overtime loss Saturday night to Portland. He will be reevaluated in four weeks, less than two weeks before Memphis concludes this season on April 14.

Rose left the second quarter of a loss last week at Minnesota with soreness in his groin and lower back. He has been diagnosed with right osteitis pubis and will be reevaluated in three weeks.

Memphis had used 35 different starting lineups and 20 different starters going into Monday night’s game at Brooklyn. The Grizzlies snapped a five-game skid with a road win Monday night despite missing Jaren Jackson Jr. and Yuta Watanabe because of injuries.

The Grizzlies have had starters such as two-time All-Star Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart sidelined for weeks by injuries.

Memphis (21-41) currently has the third-worst record in the Western Conference and the sixth worst in the NBA.
