Marquette star guard Tyler Kolek will miss the final two games of the regular season with an oblique injury, the school announced Monday.

Kolek will be reevaluated before next week’s Big East tournament.

The 6-foot-3 senior suffered the injury during Marquette’s win over Providence last week and then didn’t travel to Omaha for the Golden Eagles’ loss to Creighton over the weekend.

Marquette, which has a half-game lead on Creighton for the No. 2 seed in the Big East tournament, closes out its regular season with a home game against UConn on Wednesday and a trip to Xavier on Saturday.

Kolek has been one of the nation’s best point guards over the last two seasons, leading the nation in assists this season and ranking third a year ago. He’s also averaging 15 points and 4.7 rebounds this campaign, making 40% of his 3-point attempts.

During Marquette’s eight-game winning streak in Big East play earlier this season, Kolek averaged 20.4 points and 9.6 rebounds. He also dished out 18 assists against DePaul on Feb. 21.

Kolek, who started his career at George Mason, is ranked No. 26 in ESPN’s NBA draft rankings.
