Drivers taking part in the morning session were curtailed by a red flag brought on by a loose drain cover at Turn 11.

Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes was the first to run over the kerb and loosen the cover, before Charles Leclerc did the exact same thing in the Ferrari, leaving debris on the Sakhir circuit.

The red flag was waved, a 40ish minute delay commenced, before the session was ended early by race control with an hour left on the clock.

Leclerc sustained damage to the floor of his car when he hit the drain, which the Italian team had to replace during the break.

The Monegasque driver was still the quickest driver of the early session though, leading the field with a time of 1:31.750 on the C3 medium tyres.
