Ineos Grenadiers’ deputy team principal Rod Ellingworth will step down from his role at the end of the year.
Ellingworth has been effectively running the British team, previously known as Team Sky.
Team principal Sir Dave Brailsford had taken on a wider role across Ineos’ sporting operations.
Brailsford is set to take on a key role at Manchester United once Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s purchase of a 25 per cent stake in the club has been completed.
A statement from the team said: “The Ineos Grenadiers can confirm that deputy team principal, Rod Ellingworth, will be leaving the team at the end of the year. No further comment will be made at this stage.”
Ellingworth, 51, helped set up British Cycling’s academy in 2004 with Brailsford.
He joined Team Sky at its inception in 2010 – winning seven Tour de France titles in 10 years.
Ellingworth left to become team principal of Bahrain-McLaren for the 2020 season, but returned to the Ineos Grenadiers the following year.
