Colts RB Taylor to return to practice this week

NFL

INDIANAPOLIS — Colts All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor will return to practice on Wednesday, coach Shane Steichen said Monday.

Taylor has been on the physically unable to perform list since Week 1, prohibiting him from playing or practicing with the Colts for the first four weeks of the season. On Monday he became eligible to return. Once he returns to practice, the Colts will have 21 days to decide whether to activate him.

Asked whether there was a chance Taylor could play on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, Steichen said, “Could be, yes.”

Steichen said he had a productive conversation with Taylor, who has been at odds with the team over a contract standoff and had previously requested a trade.

“He’s excited to get back with his teammates,” Steichen said.
