Twins place Kirilloff (shoulder) on injured list

MLB

The Minnesota Twins placed outfielder/first baseman Alex Kirilloff on the 10-day injured list because of a right shoulder strain on Sunday.

In a corresponding move, the Twins reinstated left-handed pitcher Caleb Thielbar from the 15-day injured list. He had been sidelined with a right oblique strain.

Kirilloff, 25, is hitting .270 with 13 doubles, eight home runs and 32 RBIs in 69 games this season.

Thielbar, 36, is in his seventh season with the Twins (2013-15, 2020-23). He missed 46 games before making two rehab appearances with Triple-A St. Paul, where he threw two scoreless innings.

In 12 appearances with the Twins this season, he is 0-1 with a 1.74 ERA over 10⅓ innings pitched.

The Twins released Thielbar in 2015 and re-signed him before the 2020 season. In between, he played independent league baseball and spent time in the minor leagues.

The Twins enter play Sunday in first place in the American League Central, 1½ games up on the Cleveland Guardians. Minnesota concludes a three-game series with the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.
