Shakib Al Hasan became the first Bangladesh bowler to take 300 wickets in ODIs. He got to the landmark with the wicket of Rehan Ahmed in the third ODI against England in Chattogram.

Shakib also became the third allrounder to score more than 6000 runs and take 300-plus wickets in ODIs, joining Sanath Jayasuriya and Shahid Afridi. He is the third left-arm spinner to get to this landmark after Daniel Vettori and Jayasuriya.

Shakib took his first ODI wicket in 2006 when Elton Chigumbura fell to him in Harare. Shakib’s hundredth ODI wicket was Asad Shafiq in Dambulla in the Asia Cup in 2010. Hashim Amla was his 200th wicket in Dhaka in 2015.

When Shakib took his 270th wicket in 2021, he became Bangladesh’s highest wicket-taker in ODIs, overtaking Mashrafe Mortaza’s 269 for Bangladesh (he took one wicket for Asia XI).

Shakib is also Bangladesh’s highest wicket-taker in Tests and T20Is with 231 and 128 wickets, respectively. He is currently the fifth-highest wicket-taker in T20s with 443 wickets, and is one of only two players to have scored 6000 runs, taken 400 wickets and picked up 50 catches in T20s.
