Nets’ Durant progressing, out two more weeks

NBA

Brooklyn Nets star forward Kevin Durant will be out at least two more weeks as he continues rehabbing an MCL injury in his right knee, the team announced Tuesday.

The Nets noted in a statement that Durant is “progressing well” in his recovery after being reevaluated on Monday by Dr. Riley Williams III at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Durant is expected to start running again and participate in on-court basketball activities this week.

Durant suffered the injury during a 102-101 win over the Miami Heat on Jan. 8 when Heat swingman Jimmy Butler accidentally fell into the knee. The Nets immediately went on a four-game losing streak without Durant but have won their past two games over the Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors.

Kyrie Irving has picked up the slack in Durant’s absence, racking up 116 points, 25 rebounds, 22 assists and 8 steals over his past three games,

The Nets face the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.
