Pistons’ Bagley out 6 weeks after hand surgery

NBA

Detroit Pistons forward Marvin Bagley III underwent surgery on his right hand Thursday and will be sidelined for approximately six weeks, the team said in a statement.

The surgery repaired a fracture of the third and fourth metacarpals in Bagley’s right hand. He suffered the injury in Monday’s 135-106 loss to Portland.

The Pistons acquired Bagley at the trade deadline last season and signed him to a three-year deal this summer. He’s averaging 10.6 points and 5.9 rebounds this season, his fifth in the NBA.

A knee injury in preseason kept Bagley out for the first month of the season.
