Source: LaMelo ‘hopeful’ after 11-game absence

NBA

After missing 11 games with a left ankle sprain, Charlotte point guard LaMelo Ball, who has been upgraded to questionable for Wednesday’s game vs. Detroit, is “hopeful” to make his return to the lineup, a source told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Ball will warm up prior to the game to determine if he’s ready to play against the Pistons, the source said.

He sprained the ankle for a second time on Nov. 16 after first injuring it during a preseason game Oct. 10. The initial injury caused him to miss more than a month of action, including the first 13 games of the regular season.

Ball is averaging 19.3 points and 7.0 assists in three games this season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
