SALT LAKE CITY — The New Orleans Pelicans will be without forward Brandon Ingram for at least another week, team officials said on Tuesday.
The Pelicans play the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night, the eighth consecutive game Ingram has missed because of a left big toe contusion.
During Ingram’s rehabilitating process last weekend when he was attempting to return to play, he suffered a small setback. The Pelicans re-ordered imaging and while everything remains clear showing just a bruise, the team will be cautious with his return.
Ingram will be re-evaluated in a week, meaning he will miss at least four more games. The Pelicans play at Utah again on Thursday, at the Phoenix Suns on Saturday and then they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.
The Pelicans haven’t missed a beat with Ingram out, winning seven games in a row as they have surged to the top spot in the Western Conference.
In 15 games this season, Ingram has averaged 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. He’s shooting a career-best 46.7% from three-point range on 4.0 attempts per game.
New Orleans will get a boost on Tuesday night with another return as forward Herb Jones is back in the starting lineup after missing the last five games with a sprained left ankle.
