Suspect, 17, charged in Brian Robinson shooting

A 17-year-old male juvenile has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting of Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr., the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., announced Wednesday.

The suspect, who was not identified because he is a juvenile, was charged with assault with intent to rob while armed (gun). He was 16 at the time of the alleged incident on Aug. 28.

Police are still seeking an additional suspect who was captured on surveillance video.

Robinson was shot twice in his right leg during the robbery attempt. He needed surgery and was placed on the non-football injury list to begin the season, returning in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.

The rookie running back, who was drafted by the Commanders in the third round out of Alabama, has rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown so far this season.
