Blazers’ Sharpe won’t need surgery on shoulder

NBA

Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard Shaedon Sharpe, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft, will not need surgery for the small labral tear in his left shoulder, the team announced Wednesday.

Sharpe suffered the injury in Portland’s first NBA 2K23 Summer League game July 7, and he was shut down for the rest of the team’s stay in Las Vegas.

The Trail Blazers said Sharpe will continue rehabilitation and is expected to be ready for fall training camp.

The rookie from Canada spent his lone college season at Kentucky but did not appear in a game for the Wildcats.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
