Pistons rookie Ivey leaves game with ankle injury

LAS VEGAS — Pistons rookie Jaden Ivey left in the first quarter of Saturday’s summer league game against the Washington Wizards with a right ankle injury. The team said that he would not return to the game.

Ivey, the No. 5 overall selection in last month’s NBA Draft, began the game on a roll offensively, scoring 11 points with a pair of assists in five minutes. He got fouled on a 3-point attempt midway through the opening quarter and let out an audible yell before he came up limping.

Ivey stayed in the game to knock down all three of his free throws, but exited the game thereafter, headed straight for the locker room with a noticeable limp. He finished 2-for-2 from the field and hit all six of his free throws.

This is Ivey’s second Summer League game after scoring a team-high 20 points in his debut on Thursday.
