Sources: Injured Embiid won’t be at Games 1, 2

NBA

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid won’t travel for Games 1 and 2 of the team’s playoff series against the Miami Heat, but there is optimism that he could return as soon as either Game 3 or 4 in Philadelphia, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Embiid needs to clear concussion protocols and see a doctor midweek on his orbital fracture.

He suffered the injuries when Toronto‘s Pascal Siakam caught Embiid with an inadvertent elbow with 3 minutes, 58 seconds to go in the fourth quarter of the Sixers’ series-clinching win Thursday over the Raptors. Embiid immediately went to the bench while the play was reviewed, with Siakam eventually being called for an offensive foul.
