Kings’ Sabonis to miss games with knee bruise

NBA

Sacramento Kings forward/center Domantas Sabonis has a bruised left knee and will be reevaluated once the team returns from its upcoming five-game road trip, sources told ESPN.

Sabonis — a two-time All-Star who was acquired in a trade deadline deal with Indiana — injured the knee in a collision with Phoenix Suns forward Mikal Bridges on Sunday. The Kings said in a statement that an MRI revealed no structural damage.

The Kings will have four games left upon the knee’s reevaluation on April 2.

Sabonis, 25, has averaged 18.9 points, 12.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 15 games with the Kings since the trade. Sacramento acquired him in a package centered around guard Tyrese Haliburton.

The Kings are 25-48 and in 13th place in the Western Conference — six games out of the final play-in spot.
