Celtics bringing on Stauskas after G-League tear

NBA

After scoring 100 points combined in back-to-back G League games, guard Nik Stauskas has agreed to a two-year contract with the Boston Celtics, his agents Mark Bartelstein and Andy Shiffman told ESPN on Thursday night.

Stauskas, who had 57 and 43 points in consecutive games for the Grand Rapids Gold, joins the Celtics on a deal that includes the rest of this season and the 2022-23 season.

The Celtics (38-27) are a surging team, moving into fifth place in the East — just 4.5 games behind the first-place Miami Heat.

Stauskas, the eighth overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings, has also had stops with the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, Portland Trail Blazers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami. Stauskas, 28, had a 10-day contract with the Heat this season before returning to Grand Rapids.
