Wizards, Gafford agree on 3-year $40M extension

NBA

Washington Wizards center Daniel Gafford has agreed to a three-year, $40 million contract extension, his agent, Raymond Brothers of ROC Nation Sports, told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Gafford, 23, was acquired in a trade last season with the Chicago Bulls as a way to help shore up Washington’s frontcourt rotation after Thomas Bryant‘s ACL injury in January.

He played well off the bench for the Wizards, averaging 10 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks while shooting 68% from the field in just under 18 minutes per game.

Gafford is slated to begin the season as Washington’s starting center while Bryant continues to recover from ACL surgery.
