Utah football player Lowe killed in SLC shooting

University of Utah football player Aaron Lowe was killed in a shooting incident early Sunday in Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City police confirmed to ABC4 Utah that Lowe died in the shooting, which occurred at a house party in the city’s Sugar House neighborhood.

A second person, who was not identified, was in critical condition, and police were still searching for the suspect Sunday morning, according to ABC4 Utah.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox also confirmed Lowe’s death Sunday morning, tweeting his condolences.

Lowe, a defensive back, was in his third season at Utah and appeared in each of the Utes’ first four games this season.

A native of Mesquite, Texas, Lowe was the school’s first recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship, created to honor the former Utah running back who died last December.
