Boston Celtics icon Bill Russell to leave valuble memorabilia for next owner of former estate

Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell is selling his longtime home of 50 years in Mercer Island, Washington.

Russell, the most decorated player in NBA history with 11 championships in 13 seasons, lived at the Seattle-area estate for nearly 50 years.

The 4,250-square-foot home will also include valuable relics from the Hall-of-Famer’s career, per Puget Sound Business Journal on Friday.

“I have left behind my trophy case and an autographed ball for the next owner, and I hope they enjoy the home as much as I have over the last almost 50 years,” Russell told the Business Journal.

Russell and his wife Jeannine still plan to stay in the area, but admitted that he will “miss the privacy, peaceful tranquility, the views of the lake and most of all [his] hot tub.”

This comes just weeks after he announced an auction of most of his NBA memorabilia.
