NBA

Orlando Magic rookie Jalen Suggs, the No. 5 pick in last month’s NBA draft, has a left thumb sprain and will be sidelined for the remainder of NBA summer league as a precaution.

Suggs suffered the injury in the first half of Thursday’s game against the Boston Celtics. The team said an MRI on Friday confirmed the injury.

The Gonzaga product had six points in 11 minutes Thursday before exiting the game after landing hard on a drive to the basket.

Suggs averaged 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three games in Las Vegas.
