Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell will not play in the team’s last three games of the regular season as he “continues to make progress towards a return” from a sprained right ankle, the team announced Tuesday.
He will be reevaluated prior to the start of the NBA playoffs.
Mitchell suffered the injury April 16 against the Indiana Pacers when he jumped to try and deflect a long outlet pass and came down awkwardly with his foot underneath Indiana guard Edmond Sumner.
He will not travel with the team for its upcoming road trip and will continue treatment in Salt Lake City. The Jazz play the Thunder in Oklahoma City on Friday, before closing out the regular season against the Kings in Sacramento.
The team also announced that Mike Conley is out for Wednesday’s home game against the visiting Portland Trail Blazers with right hamstring tightness.
Utah, which has an NBA-best 50-19 record, has gone 8-5 in Mitchell’s absence.
