Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell will not play in Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks after he was placed in the concussion protocol, the team announced.
The Jazz said it was not immediately clear when Mitchell suffered the injury. He played 34 minutes in Tuesday’s 108-94 win over the New York Knicks, scoring 9 points with 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
“His first symptoms linking him to a possible concussion occurred this morning after the game against the New York Knicks last night,” team officials said.
Mitchell leads the Jazz in scoring this season at 23.4 points per game while also contributing 4.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds.
Utah enters Wednesday on a nine-game winning streak, which has pushed the Jazz (13-4) within a half-game of the Los Angeles Lakers (14-4) for first place in the Western Conference.
