COLUMBIA, S.C. — New South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer has made the final hires for his on-field staff.

Beamer has hired Marshall offensive line coach Greg Adkins for the same job with the Gamecocks. He had earlier hired Illinois defensive ends coach Jimmy Lindsey to handle the South Carolina defensive line and Torrian Gray, the Florida defensive backs coach, to lead the secondary.

The school’s board of trustees approved the contracts of Adkins and Lindsey on Friday. Adkins was given a two-year contract at $550,000 a season while Lindsey will make $350,000 a season in his two-year deal.

Gray had received a three-year contract. He’ll make $350,000 this season, $475,000 for 2022 and $500,000 for 2023.

Beamer, the first-time head coach hired in December to replace Will Muschamp, had announced his staff would include offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, offensive line coach Will Friend and defensive line coach Tracy Rocker. All three eventually left to join new Auburn coach Bryan Harsin.

Marcus Satterfield, who spent last season on the Carolina Panthers’ staff, takes over for Bobo as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Western Kentucky’s Clayton White is Beamer’s defensive coordinator.

Satterfield’s deal is for two years while White’s is for three. Both coordinators will make $900,000 a season.

The board also approved raises of $120,000 a year for running backs coach Des Kitchings and defensive ends-outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson that will earn them $420,000.

In all, South Carolina will spend $5,000,000 on 10 on-field football assistants this season.
