Ex-Knicks G Ellington joining Pistons, agent says

NBA

Free-agent guard Wayne Ellington has agreed to a one-year, $2.6 million deal with the Detroit Pistons, agent Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Tuesday.

Ellington was waived by the Knicks last week as New York parted ways with six veteran players to create over $40 million in salary-cap space ahead of free agency.

Ellington had joined the Knicks as a free agent in July 2019 after previous stops with Minnesota, Cleveland, Memphis, Dallas, the Lakers, Brooklyn, Miami and Detroit.

Drafted with the 28th overall pick out of North Carolina in 2009, Ellington has averaged 8.0 points, 1.1 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 40.8% shooting (37.8% from 3) for his career.
