New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram won the NBA’s Most Improved Player award on Monday.
Ingram, 22, received 42 first-place votes from a panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters and earned 326 total points.
He beat out Miami Heat big Bam Adebayo, who finished in second place with 38 first-place votes (295 total). Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic finished in third place with 12 first-place votes (101 total).
Ingram, who was traded from the Lakers as part of last year’s deal for Anthony Davis, increased his numbers across the board while also becoming a reliable 3-point shooter.
He averaged 23.8 points (up from 18.3 last season), 6.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 46% from the field and 39% from 3 this season.
Ingram is the first player in Pelicans franchise history to win the award.
