Allgaier transported to hospital after Xfinity crash

NASCAR

Xfinity Series driver Justin Allgaier was transported to a hospital for evaluation after being involved in a last-lap crash during Thursday night’s Xfinity Series race at Kentucky Speedway.

Allgaier’s JR Motorsports Chevrolet had contact with Ronnie Bassett Jr.‘s Chevy, with Bassett making hard contact with the inside wall that lifted his car off the ground. Allgaier twice made contact with the outside wall in the crash, which also involved Timmy Hill.

Bassett and Hill were checked and released from the infield care center, with Allgaier going to the hospital.

Ashley Allgaier, Justin’s wife, tweeted that she was disgusted by people speculating online as to what sort of injury Justin was being evaluated for.

Allgaier is winless in 14 races this season, but is sixth in the point standings heading into Friday night’s race at Kentucky Speedway.
