Wes Unseld, who died Tuesday at the age of 74, spent more than three decades in the NBA as a player, coach and executive. He helped lead the then-Washington Bullets to their only NBA championship in 1978, earning Finals MVP honors. He, along with Wilt Chamberlain, is one of two players to win the league’s MVP award in his rookie season, and he was named one of the league’s 50 Greatest Players during the NBA’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Unseld’s impact stretched far beyond the court and the NBA world shared its condolences on social media upon learning of his death.
