Rain has forced NASCAR to postpone Wednesday night’s scheduled Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway until 7 p.m. ET on Thursday.
The announcement came just after 8 p.m. as rain continued to pelt the 1.5-mile track which was set to host its second Cup race in four days after Brad Keselowski won Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600.
The Wednesday night race was scheduled to help NASCAR catch up on its backlog of races created by the coronavirus pandemic, which halted racing in March.
NASCAR also announced that due to delays in setting up at Bristol Motor Speedway caused by Wednesday’s postponement that it was shifting the Xfinity Series race scheduled for Saturday to Monday at 7 p.m.
Bristol’s Cup race remains scheduled for Sunday.
