Conor McGregor says he can beat Floyd Mayweather: ‘I promise my life on it’

UFC superstar Conor McGregor believes that not only will he get another shot at facing Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match, but he will defeat him.

During Mike Tyson’s podcast, Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight champion praised McGregor’s performance against Mayweather in a 10th-round TKO loss in 2017.

“It’s a spectacle, but listen, this is where it’s not a spectacle,” Tyson said. “He never really had a boxing match in his life, right? … He went 10 rounds with the greatest fighter of the last 100 years of boxing…. He went 10 rounds, scored punches on the greatest fighter in the last 100 years. Did he accomplish something? … Look at what he had to fight against and look what he did when he fought against him.”

McGregor, responding to Tyson’s comments, said that if he meets Mayweather again, he will be victorious.

“I promise my life on it,” McGregor posted on Twitter.

Mayweather and McGregor met in a highly publicized and lucrative event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Mayweather improved his record to 50-0 with 27 KOs, and McGregor, while now 0-1 in the sport, left a good impression in his first boxing match.

While McGregor has continued his career in the UFC, defeating Donald Cerrone in one round on Jan. 18, Mayweather has not fought since despite plenty of rumors about a possible return to the ring. Calls to Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, have not been returned.
