Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is recovering from a knee procedure he had Wednesday in Los Angeles.

According to his manager, Jorge Guimaraes, Silva underwent a regenerative stem cell procedure on his right knee, which had been planned with his medical team for a while. According to his team, Silva, 45, was looking for a good time to take two weeks off from his normal training regimen to undergo the procedure.

Guimaraes said doctors expect that his recovery time will be about two weeks, and he will resume training afterward.

Silva has two fights left on his deal, and Guimaraes said he wants to honor those and will then assess his fighting future. He doesn’t have his next fight lined up yet.

Silva (34-10, 1 NC) last fought on May 11, 2019, when he lost via TKO to Jared Cannonier. Once considered the greatest fighter of all time, he is 1-6 with one no contest in his past eight fights.
