Josie Harris, the former longtime girlfriend of Floyd Mayweather, with whom she has three teenage children, was found dead in her car outside her home in Valencia, California, on Tuesday night. She was 40.

Homicide investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report and at approximately 10 p.m. PT found Harris unresponsive in her car. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police report.

Police said they had no additional information as to the cause of Harris’ death and that they were investigating. TMZ reported that it did not appear that foul play was involved and the case was “being treated as a death investigation as opposed to a homicide probe.”

Harris and Mayweather were together for about 15 years and have two sons and a daughter. Their relationship was tumultuous at times. In 2011, Mayweather was sentenced to 90 days in Clark County jail in Nevada after he pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of domestic violence and no contest to two harassment charges stemming from a September 2010 incident.

Mayweather had been in the United Kingdom in recent days and, according to a spokesman for the retired five-division world champion, he cut short his trip when informed of Harris’ death and was on his way home.
