Women’s 6N game cancelled due to coronavirus

The Women’s Six Nations match between Italy and Scotland has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Italian Authorities cancelled all sporting events in the Veneto and Lombardi Regions after the confirmed number of cases of Covid-19 rose to 79 in Italy.

The match was due to take place on Sunday in Milan, but the Six Nations Rugby will now look to “reschedule this fixture at a later date”.

The extraordinary measures were announced on Saturday evening by Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte.

Earlier on Saturday, a woman from Lombardy died after contracting the virus, the second fatality in Italy following one in Padua in the nearby Veneto region.

The match was due to take place on Sunday, but the Six Nations Rugby will now look to “reschedule this fixture at a later date”.
